Te Whakahaere is not us, it is you – an organisation of ideas and aims, of individuals and efforts, seeking to achieve outcomes that are important to you.
It’s a challenging journey to net zero, but we know the way and are there to take it with you.
Te Whakahaere is you.
We are all guardians of this planet; our actions have impact and can influence change. In a world, where climate change is certain, we have an opportunity, both individually and collectively, to have a positive impact on the health of the planet and the wellbeing of our communities.
Te Whakahaere is dedicated to nurturing our environment for future generations, as a global force enabling organisations to build capacity and capability in transitioning to a climate positive future.
About Melanie and Mark and the development of Te Whakahaere.
We have always held the view that the value of our actions is measured by the extent to which they result in emissions reductions and support the health and continued wellbeing of the natural world. Something which seems easy to say, yet the processes to achieving it usually mean making challenging decisions.
The reason we established Te Whakahaere Āhuarangi was to create a vehicle through which we could help organisations make that commitment. From the outset, we recognised that effective solutions, and ensuring resilience, to climate challenges require collaboration and drawing on the knowledge and experiences of everyone involved—from the boardroom to the field. This collaborative approach deeply resonates with our te ao Māori principles of whanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga. Applying these principles ensures that the strategies we assist in developing are not only sustainable but also deeply rooted in our ethos.
We also wanted to implement a low emissions business model designed for scalability, and one which would enable us to extend our reach and our clients’ potential for impact. This has worked well, and Te Whakahaere has continued to grow sustainably. As our client base has grown, and as we have grown, our focus remains steadfast on empowering organisations to identify, confront, and manage climate-related challenges with integrity and insight. We have managed to work as partners, advising and supporting, and sharing the responsibility of reducing emissions as stewards of our environment. Each strategy we develop is rooted in our team’s deep expertise and principles.
As we continue to learn and grow, we are fostering a sense of community and continuity, ensuring that our collective efforts contribute to a resilient and sustainable future.
Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi.
We have certainly found that working together with partners, as whānau, provides prosperity for us all.
